The first Patrick Swayze movie I ever remember watching was Dirty Dancing. After the movie I wanted to be a Salsa dancer. That's what kids do, they emulate movies and dream of being just like the star. When I heard about Patrick Swayze contracting colon cancer I felt a genuine sadness because he seemed like a good person, You never heard scandalous gossip about Patrick, or I cannot really recall much negative attention brought to him. In the movie Ghost (my favorite Swayze movie) Demi and Pat made the roles believable, and the story line was great. I see him then and look at pictures now of him and it's horrible, the side effects conventional chemo give are brutal to say the least. I am not agains chemo, but I think our Doctors and Scientists can come up with better ways of getting rid of cancer without poisoning the host. I lost a friend to stomach Cancer and I saw her go from a normal size woman to a 80 pound shell of what she used to be. Patrick knew the chances of him overcoming colon cancer were grim. Statistics show many people do not survive this type of cancer. That is why he did not quit smoking. Why give something up if you only have a short time here anyway. I saw his point. He lived a great life and will be immortalized in his movies, and memories get forgotten but he will forever be remembered. Patirck Swayze a man not scared of dying may he rest in peace.
